The Church Defined

Text:  1 Corinthians 12:12-27

The Church Defined as a Unified Body

• The church is the body of Christ. It is a unified body with many members.
• The church puts God’s Truth on display. It is the Gospel made visible for the world around us as “the pillar and ground of the truth.” (1 Timothy 3:15)

The Church Defined as an Essentially Diverse Body

• Within the Body of Christ, there is harmonious unity within the diversity of its parts.
• Within the Body of Christ, each member is essential to the other.

The Church Defined as a Caring Body

• We come together to share our lives with one another and give our lives up in sacrificial love for one another.

Application:

• How we care for another
• How we serve together
• How the elders are equipping the saints for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11-16)
