Winter 2026

Adult Bible Study: Led by Sid Werges
Current Study: Praying with the Psalms

Location: Fellowship Hall

Historically, the Psalms have been one of the greatest sources for Christian meditation and contemplation in the Bible.  The Psalter functioned as the Jewish "Common Prayer" book.  It was used in synagogues and private worship.  It was Jesus'  "common prayer" book.  The goal of this study is to learn how to read the Psalms to enrich and inform our own prayers.  It is much easier to pray a psalm after you've studied it.  If you don't understand it, it is difficult to meditate on it and pray it.  We will examine the different categories of psalms, and do an in-depth study of several psalms in each category -- and we will learn why we should root our prayer life deeply in the Psalms of the Bible.
