Sound Doctrine Must Be Taught Faithfully by Christlike Elders (2:1)

• Sound Gospel doctrine feeds the church.
• Sound Gospel doctrine counsels the church. 
• Sound Gospel doctrine protects the church.

Sound Doctrine Must Be Modeled Faithfully By Older Men (2:2).

• God calls older men to be Christ-focused.
• God calls older men to be worthy of respect.
• God calls older men to be disciplined in thought and deed.
• God calls older men to be strong in faith, love, and perseverance.

Sound Doctrine Must Be Modeled Faithfully By Older Women (2:3).

• God calls older women to be reverent in behavior.
• God calls older women to guard their speech.
• God calls older women to guard their appetites. 
• God call older women to life-on-life discipleship.
